The Doux® (thedoux.com) is a line of hair care products I created through my experience as a stylist and owner of The Doux Salon in Georgia. The line is inspired by 90’s pop culture and is for women who want to keep their natural curls.
My team and I engaged KMR Communications to execute PR for The Doux Products. KMR is a company that works swiftly, aggressively, and intelligently.
Within a four-month period they secured 117 media placements for The Doux. Highlights include two feature stories in Women’s Wear Daily Beauty Biz, Bustle.com, Refinery29.com, Essence.com, Marieclaire.com, Buzzfeed.com, Elle.com, Stylecaster.com, Hellogiggles.com and MSN.com.
I am confident that the coverage KMR secured for us helped to pave the wave for our successful entrée into big box retailers. In addition to the A-list media coverage, we were provided with very detailed weekly status reports, and had constant access and attention from the firm’s CEO Katherine Rothman.
Our team would highly recommend KMR to any entity in the beauty business for first rate public relations services. This company has essential media connections and knows how to implement original and effective strategies. Their overall grasp of the current climate of the beauty business is very impressive.
I enjoyed working directly with the KMR team; they are a very close knit working family and are truly informed on what is going on in the media world. The prep time they put into working one on one with their clients is undeniably elegant. For a small business starting out, KMR gives the white glove treatment into making you feel extraordinary. I would highly suggest putting your confidence into KMR, their boutique style and extreme organization is what you need to get the job complete
Our product is The Bar Method. It’s an easy sell to women because it makes them beautiful, but it’s also a hard sell because it requires them to rise to the occasion of a very challenging workout. In 2010, we came to KMR for help explaining to the media the unique benefits that students get from doing the Bar Method. We were also confronting a tremendous influx of competitors into our exercise niche.
From the beginning, Kathy and her team were delightful to work with, enthusiastically embracing our ideas and turning them into successful campaigns.
They were also prolific producers, getting us coverage in media outlets that were well-targeted to our audience including Elle, Self, Shape, Glamour and Fitness Magazines, CNN, Fox News, Daily Candy, and The Huffington Post. With their assistance, the number of Bar Method studios around North America grew from 36 in 2010 to 76 today, and our company has acquired a reputation for excellence within our industry. I highly recommend KMR to any business seeking to make its mark.
We made the decision to switch to KMR Communications after a few other failed attempts with PR firms. Joining KMR was the best decision for Le Baby Inc. and it has really catapulted us to another level. We have only been with them since October of 2009 and already they have managed to get us in some popular online and print media outlets such as Baby Talk Magazine.
KMR has gotten us on 5 local news stations to date (including Las Vegas, San Diego and Philadelphia) and I’m really excited about what they have store for us in the upcoming future. My team is very creative in pitching their ideas and work very hard for me as their client. I couldn’t be happier with KMR.
If you are considering adding PR to your business plan, don’t waste any more of your time researching, thinking and worrying. Do yourself a big favor and let Kathy Rothman and her superb team take you by the hand and show you how it’s done – and really done well. Start right now. It will be one of the best investments and best decisions you will ever make for your business.
You can thank me later. Some weeks before I even “formally” signed on for my plastic surgery practice in 2014, Kathy was already lining me up for exposure in several national magazines (both online and print), putting together press releases, brainstorming with me repeatedly to discuss her many marketing ideas for my practice and pushing her contacts for radio and TV exposure.
All of these quickly came to pass, and she never let up on the gas. Before I knew it, we were successfully getting some form of significant regional and / or national promotion for our practice essentially every week. That’s every week. I had tried PR before, and it was, at best, so-so. It was never like this. I finally saw PR the way it should be – when an experienced, talented pro is in charge.
Although they are great, we didn’t really need her trademark detailed weekly status reports that arrive like clockwork to tell us how successful her campaign was for us. My email inbox always had some news – a link to our latest magazine placement, a video of our recent TV news spot for us to use on our website or yet another promotional opportunity.
Did I mention that she and her team are also just a pleasure to work with? Kathy continues to provide us with high-level, high-quality PR advantages to the present day. What are you waiting for?
Our company worked with Kathy Rothman of KMR communications a decade ago. When we decided to get back into public relations we immediately called her again. We worked with KMR for 2 years.
Kathy and her team at KMR have always been professional, prompt, helpful, and thorough. They deliver a high level of service. The KMR team also makes public relations fun.
It has been a pleasure for Sothys USA to have worked with KMR Communications. The staff is very dedicated and their attention to detail is extremely important to them.
Follow-ups and follow-throughs get done! The KMR team work well together, as they depend on each other and count on each other to carry on projects.
As an emerging brand in a new category it was challenging to educate both the beauty and the medical industry about Dermaflage, the first cosmetic that looks like real skin invented in Hollywood special effects. We hired KMR Communications because of their long history in both the beauty and medical channels.
In just six months, they were able to secure major national media placements for us that really put us on the map. Highlights of these placements included “The Doctors” on CBS TV, The Rachael Ray Show, the September issue of In Style Magazine, and Flare Magazine. Katherine Rothman is great to work with. She is extremely responsive and cares a great deal about the success of her clients.
KMR has been representing me since early 2015 and I am consistently impressed with their creativity and knowledge of what garners media attention. Neuropsychology is layered and complex and the KMR team really knows how to simplify concepts that resonate with people.
Thanks to KMR and their broad range of pitch ideas and media contacts, I’ve been called upon to comment on many different topics such as body image, bullying, social media addiction, parenting, relationships, workplace issues and even the 2016 Presidential Election.
The team has secured over 500 media placements including Fortune.com, Foxnews.com, the now defunct Nancy Grace show, CNN, WebMd, ReadersDigest.com, WNBC TV New York, The New York Daily News, TeenVogue.com, Bustle.com, Glamour.com, Yahoo.com, Goodhousekeeping.com and US News and World Report. KMR is a PR firm that listens to its clients but it also very proactive in guiding and coaching one through the maze of PR. I highly recommend them!
I engaged KMR Communications to perform public relations for my Las Vegas oculo-facial plastic surgery practice. I am Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. I completed my graduate studies at Columbia University in New York before attending medical school in Miami, Florida.
I was and am keenly aware that in order to remain competitive and take my practice to the next level that I needed to engage a NYC public relations firm with the media clout, connections, and creativity to help me achieve my goals. After doing extensive research on New York City public relations firms who maintained a niche in medical PR, I met with and joined the roster of KMR clients. It is a decision I have been delighted with. I
have been extremely impressed with their boutique style agency approach, knowledge of my sub-specialty, personal attention and creative energy. Within a short time of signing with the firm I was featured in media outlets such as “Access Hollywood,” “In Touch Magazine,” “Las Vegas Review Journal,” and “Life & Style Magazine” to name but a few. I would highly recommend KMR Communications to medical doctors such as myself who enjoy a good reputation but need that extra edge to set them apart from the competition.
Working with KMR Communications was a great experience. The entire KMR team worked quickly and tirelessly to increase relevant media exposure. They are professional and work to meet your individual goals. In less than a year they secured 350 media placements for me. Some highlights include Webmd.com, Parade Magazine, Life & Style Magazine, Self.com, InStyle.com, Health.com, YahooBeauty.com, TeenVogue.com. Newsday.com, Glamour.com, Bustle.com. Cosmopolitan.com and numerous others.
They are incredibly well versed in the sub-specialty of dermatology and as a result are able to create consistent and creative press releases. They have their finger on the pulse of what the media wants. In addition, my account received maximum personal attention not only from the experienced staff but also from KMR’s CEO Katherine Rothman. I would highly recommend KMR for your public relations and media needs.
I recently finished a six-month marketing campaign where my primary efforts were through KMR Communications and Katherine Rothman. I have to say that KMR was consistent and responsive from the start and quickly secured placements for my plastic surgery practice in national celebrity publications and on nationally syndicated radio talk shows and online placements.
My six months were full of quality exposure at a level that I could not obtain locally in Nashville, Tennessee. I still have patients that come to my office having found me in these national publications and on radio interviews. The marketing materials I gained from my time with KMR have really helped with my web presence and in-office marketing.
Whether you have a time-limited marketing effort planned or need a long-term partner for media relations, I highly recommend KMR and Katherine Rothman.
LashFood worked with KMR Communications for a period of approximately 2 years. During that time, they secured 350 media placements for our company spanning magazines, print, internet and television. At the time we started with KMR, we only had one product to promote.
We were incredibly pleased with their ability to continue to provide consistent and quality media coverage and find innovative ways to “spin” our product so that it was constantly relevant and placed in top tier media outlets. Eventually we did roll out two more products and when the firm had the three products to promote simultaneously it only heightened their ability to assure the kind of media coverage that provides the credibility and exposure that it so important to be competitive in today’s cosmetic/skincare market place.
Some of the media highlights of our campaign included: The prestigious beauty trade magazines: Les Nouvelles Esthetiques, Dermascope, Nails Magazine, Skin Inc, Spa Magazine. On the consumer side, a sampling of our placements included: People Magazine, The Miami Herald, In Touch Magazine, OK! Magazine and WFLA TV among hundreds of others.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with the management and staff at KMR Communications. We found them incredibly responsive and attentive to our needs and goals. Although we are located in California and the firm is in New York, we were always kept abreast of their progress via detailed weekly e-mail reports and phone meetings.
The team at KMR are true PR professionals and we would recommend them highly to those seeking to increase their name recognition and brand awareness among consumers and the trade.
I worked with KMR Communications for a period of approximately 8 months. During that short time, they secured impressive and high-profile media placements for my daughter Chelsea Krost, national radio personality and at the time a teen advocate, spanning magazines, print, internet and television.
I am incredibly pleased with their ability to continue to provide consistent and quality media coverage; and find innovative ways to position Chelsea in media. KMR offers very personal and in-depth representation on behalf of their clients. KMR’s team of publicists is creative, resourceful and industrious.
Quality service is first and foremost in everything they do. Some of the media highlights of her campaign include FOX News, Good Day New York, TeenVoices.com, Worth Magazine, College Magazine, GirlsLife.com, Yahoo! and The Sun-Sentinel. Chelsea and I thoroughly enjoyed working with the management and staff at KMR Communications.
I find them incredibly responsive and attentive to our needs and goals. The team at KMR are true PR professionals and I would recommend them highly to those seeking to increase their name recognition and brand awareness among consumer and trade press.
We came to KMR after a bad experience right out the gate with another PR agency. For a company like ours in its early stages of development it is important to have an experienced professional with tailored PR support and understanding of your brands’ needs and constraints.
Kathy and her team were exactly that. They were very instrumental in getting us placements in various channels from publishers to bloggers and influencers. They all have been consistent and pragmatic on their approach to help us. We appreciate what they have done and achieved for us.
